Multitasking has become second nature to many of us, but it often leads to feeling overwhelmed and,
ultimately, achieving very little. To address this challenge, I collaborated with a developer to
design One Taskβthe ultimate unitasking app. This app empowers users to focus on one task at a time,
helping them stay productive and efficiently complete their to-do lists.

Understanding the Userβs World
User research revealed that multitaskers often struggle with focus and productivity, emphasizing
the importance of mindfulness and single-tasking practices. Through these insights, we developed
two distinct personas, each underscoring the critical need for the 'One Task' feature to help
users stay present and organized.
Define
Crafting the Problem Statement
The design process began with sketching hand-drawn flowcharts, enabling quick iterations and
a clear direction for the app's functionalities.

Brainstorming Bold Solutions
- User-Centered Approach: To simplify the portfolio creation process,
I approached it from the user's perspective, breaking the complex task into smaller,
manageable steps to enhance focus and productivity.
- Balsamiq Wireframe: Using Balsamiq, I created a mid-level wireframe
with three key tabs: 'Open Tasks,' 'One Task,' and 'Completed Tasks,' organizing the
tasks for easy tracking and progress.
- Open Tasks Tab: The 'Open Tasks' tab displays all pending tasks in
a list, allowing users to prioritize and tackle them one by one for a streamlined
workflow.
- One Task Tab: The 'One Task' tab highlights a single task at a
time, with the option to shake the screen for a new task, ensuring focus and task
variety.
- Completed Tasks Tab: The 'Completed Tasks' tab keeps track of
finished tasks, offering users a clear view of their progress and accomplishments.
Prototype
Visualizing the Concept in Figma
- Design Process: Created collaborative screens in Figma.
- Prototyping: Developed an interactive prototype using InVision.
- Development Approach: Minimalistic four-screen design for user-friendly
experience.
Lessons Learned
Refining Strategies from Feedback
- Gained valuable insights into designing within time constraints, balancing functionality
with user experience under tight deadlines.
- Recognized the critical role of UX in even simple apps, highlighting how thoughtful design
can significantly enhance user engagement and task efficiency.
- Realized the importance of user feedback during the testing phase, which helped refine the
app's features and improve its overall usability.
- Discovered the need for adaptive features that cater to different user preferences, as some
users needed more flexibility than initially anticipated.
- Learned how iterative testing and quick prototyping can accelerate problem-solving and lead
to better solutions in the final product.
Next Phase
Shaping the Future Based on Insights
We are collaborating with a smartwatch company to develop a smartwatch version of the app. This
exciting next phase will allow users to track tasks and progress directly from their wrists,
providing a more seamless and integrated experience. We are awaiting further communication and
development updates for progress.
